Makarapa Transport

Makarapa transport is 100% black owned and has been operational since 2015. We currently haul timber logs from different plantations to different saw mills. We provide transport for a number of sawmills such as Sun Pallets, Pine Valley Timber, Kanyi Ilanga and Bendrandt. We operate from plantations owned by SAFCOL, SAPPI, York Timbers and private farmers. Throughout the years we have gained exposure and experience in the forestry industry. We are familiar with administration, safety and operational requirements of the large and smaller role players in this industry. 

Our Services

Loading

Load and offload timber from trucks infield and depot. Loading is the activity that links wood harvesting to the timber transportation when the wood that is in the field is then deposited on the trailers of long/short haul trucks, and unloading is the activity that connects the activity of timber transportation to the Mills. Both these processes are completed using a bell logger. 

Short Haul

Move timber from infield to depot. Short hauling is the process whereby timber infield is transported to the depot. Our fleet is compromised of a combination of 6x6 and 4x6 Mercedes Benz and MAN trucks depending on terrain. The short hauling distances range between 6-15km with the trucks carrying an 18ton payload. 

Long Haul

Transport timber from depot to sawmills. Our fleet operates in the Mpumalanga region. The fleet consists of rigid drawbar four axle logger body, carrying 34 to 39 ton payloads of all tree species and lengths from 2.4 to 6.6 meters. With the maximum one way trip distance of 120km from site to customer.
